Our History
Aerospace Alloys, Inc. was incorporated in the 1980’s as a supplier of specialty metals. In 1989, Aerospace Alloys Inc. was acquired by Robert Allinson, Robert Miller and Robert Shallman and established itself in Manchester, CT.
The company continued to grow under their management and they recognized the need to offer value added services to their clients. They began by offering cut to size pieces with simple machining operations and as they saw their clients’ needs grow so did they.
In 1996 Aerospace Alloys became one of the first companies in the New England Area to offer abrasive waterjet cutting. This offered a method of cutting that would not create heat affected zones and that could cut certain materials that were not easily cut by conventional means. We were successful in this endeavor and now own 6 waterjet cutting machines including two 5-axis machines.
As we continued to service the needs of our clients, it became apparent to us that the need for ISO Certification was necessary. Aerospace Alloys became ISO 9001 and AS9100 in July of 2003 and continue to be certified to this date.
By 2006 Aerospace Alloys had grown out of its facility and decided to consolidate all 4 buildings from which they were operating in, into one, located in Bloomfield, CT. The new facility is 30,000 square feet and has a permit to double in size as we continue to grow. We have continued to acquire equipment that allows us to control quality and delivery times of the products we supply.
Through continuous improvements we have been able to achieve Supplier Gold Status four times. We continue to pursue this status for the coming years.
Aerospace Alloys is currently owned by Chris Allinson, Richard Allinson, Robert Allinson Jr. and Michelle Allinson. We have 35 employees and look forward to our continued growth as we continue to provide our clients with the quality and service that they have come to expect through the years.
Our change in focus from a material supplier, to that of a service center offering semi-finished parts, was in major part due to our customers need for reliable on-time deliveries. Being able to guarantee such service led to achieving record on-time deliveries of 99% plus during the last five consecutive years of supply.
We currently work one shift plus overtime, but have the space and machine capacity to work 3 shifts if required.
Our motto is “If we can’t find it, we’ll make it!” Many times we have had customers come to us when no one else could help them and we have found ways to work with them to supply their material requirements.
